Ongoing Opportunities

• Board committees: The new PTA needs volunteers to support various volunteer committees:

  • Advocacy lead: Help inform and organize the John Muir community around relevant local, state, and federal advocacy efforts.

  • Social lead: Help organize social and community events for the John Muir community (e.g., ice cream social, movie nights, park play dates, and more).

  • Fundraising support: Help us meet our fundraising goals! We’d love leads to support specific fundraising sub-streams:

    • Grant writing support: Help the school and other key partners write and apply for grant funding!

    • Partner fundraising: Research and apply for fundraising opportunities through neighborhood partners (e.g., Mio Posto Dine Outs)

    • Community-based fundraising: Organize other community-based fundraising activities (e.g., community bake sale)

    • 5th grade camp lead: Help organize volunteers to support 5th grade camp!

    • 5th grade play: Help organize this year’s play!

• Shelving in the Library - looking for a peaceful and satisfying way to volunteer at the school? Teacher Librarian JK Burrell is looking for someone to help with shelving once every 1-2 weeks. Additionally, if any families have finished with their Legos and would like to donate them, the library would love to have them. Message JK Burwell at joburwell@seattleschools.org if interested.

• Lunch or recess duty: John Muir is always in need of parents to help monitor games and support transitions during lunch and recess. Shifts are available Monday-Friday from 11:30am-1:00pm (90 mins each day).
